WASC AREAS OF FOCUS
Critical Academic Need #1:
In order for Paramount High School students to meet the Common Core Standards and College and Career Readiness Standards, there is a need to increase student achievement in English Language Arts and Mathematics through engaging and rigorous standards-based instruction, and by providing interventions and enrichment to address students’ academic needs as measured by a 10% increase on the CAASPP and district assessments.
Critical Academic Need #2:
In order for Paramount High School students to meet the Common Core Standards and College and Career Readiness Standards, there is a need to connect the interests and talents of the students to their future plans by providing students opportunities to explore their interests, talents, college choices, and career possibilities through the development of their 21st Century Skills and increased course offerings.
Critical Academic Need #3:
In order for Paramount High School students to meet the Common Core Standards and College and Career Readiness Standards, there is a need to improve parent involvement by working with parents as equal partners in their children’s education and utilizing Safe and Civil practices.
WASC Critical Areas of Follow-Up
1. There is a need to make the instructional shift from teacher centered classrooms to student centered classrooms where teachers are the facilitator to increase student learning, student engagement, and relevance.
2. There is a need to develop a strategic and systematic collaboration between the Senior and West Campus.
3. There is a need to continue professional development related to the implementation of using technology as an instructional tool to increase student learning, student engagement, and relevance.
4. There is a need for a schoolwide strategic plan to support students who are struggling academically, behaviorally, and socio-emotionally.
5. There is a need to ensure that all cultural subgroups are validated through culturally responsive educational practices that include: curriculum, instruction, parent involvement strategies, student supports, and student placement.
