Ensuring a Safe Environment for Our Students

Dear Paramount Unified School District Families,

In response to the Trump administration’s Executive Orders regarding immigration enforcement, there are a number of organizations, both locally and nationally, looking to coordinate school walkouts.

We understand some Paramount Unified School District students may consider engaging in walkouts later this week.

Paramount Unified School District supports the right to protest peacefully but have strong concerns for student safety once our students leave campus.

Please talk with your student and encourage them to stay at their school. Site leaders and site staff will be working with student groups to identify alternatives to a walk out, while still ensuring Paramount Unified School District students have safe place on campus to express their voices.

Like you, the district is committed to keeping our students and staff safe and we appreciate your help in that effort.

Thank you for your continued support and partnership.

Sincerely,
Joshua Lightle, Ed.D, Superintendent
